To prepare the next generation of accounting leaders, HC introduces the Practical Accounting Training (PAT) Program—an intensive, hands-on learning experience designed for senior-year accounting students. This program replaces traditional lectures and textbooks with a fully hands-on learning approach. Each session replicates real-world business scenarios to ensure participants gain genuine, practical experience. The closer your practice is to reality, the faster and more effectively you learn. Participants will develop practical mastery in the following areas:

General Ledger Accounting

Participants will learn to systematically diagnose and correct GL accounting errors, including GL accounts reconciliation issues that arise when organizations transition from U.S. GAAP to IFRS, or from IFRS to U.S. GAAP. Our three-step method guides them to 1. Diagnose the issue 2. Analyze the discrepancy 3. Implement the solution

Bank Reconciliation

We do not view bank reconciliation (BR) as merely a monthly compliance task. Instead, we consider (BR) to be one of the most powerful diagnostic tools in accounting because virtually every financial transaction ultimately flows through a bank account, either directly or indirectly. Our FAIL-SAFE BR process equips participants to identify hidden cash, and uncover overlooked variances.

Major Business Cycles

Accounts Payable: At HC, participants master techniques to detect issues and recover lost profits by uncovering duplicate payments, unused vendor credits, and processing discrepancies.

Accounting Receivable: Participants learn to identify and correct issues by addressing understated billings, detecting skimming in cash receipts, and analyzing aged receivables to strengthen overall cash flow management.

ERP Systems Implementation

Get hands-on with essential ERP Systems implementation tasks like Chart of Accounts mapping, data migration, and ending balance reconciliations. ERP systems business cycle testing to ensure your system is accurate, reliable, and ready for go-live.

Budgeting vs Actual Analysis

At HC, participants gain hands-on experience in one of the most demanding yet impactful areas of finance. They learn to navigate high-pressure month-end close cycles, respond swiftly to managmet’s last-minute changes, and articulate the financial story behind every variance with condidence and precision.

Audit Support

At HC, participants will learn practical techniques to ensure annual audits proceed smoothly. Emphasis will be placed on effective communication with external auditor, delivering precisely the information requested – no more, no less, in a timely and organized manner.

Program Eligibility Requiements

This training program is exclusively designed for students majoring in accounting worldwide. Eligible students may participate at no cost during the testing phase, subject to meeting all program requirements. Students who successfully complete the program and demonstrate the required skills may be considered for opportunities to work with us after completing the training.

To join the program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Be an Accounting major currently enrolled in a college or university.
  • Successfully pass the Practical Accounting Training (PAT) Program Assessment Test.
  • Possess a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Commit to investing at least 10 hours per week in hands-on training.
  • Have access to a Microsoft 365 account, including Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, and Word.

Because this is an intensive, hands-on training program, admission is selective. We are committed to investing our time, experience, and expertise in students who demonstrate the dedication, discipline, and motivation needed to build a successful career in the accounting profession.

Successful completion of the training does not guarantee employment. However, students who demonstrate strong performance, professional skills, and commitment may be considered for future opportunities with us.

No Prior Accounting Work Experience Required

Applicants must not have prior professional accounting work experience. This program is specifically designed for accounting students who are ready to gain their first meaningful exposure to real-world accounting practices.

There is a reason we do not require—or seek students with—prior accounting work experience. You will understand why during the training. Our goal is to teach students how to approach accounting problems, analyze discrepancies, and apply accounting knowledge in a practical business environment without relying on previously learned workplace habits.
